Quiz From Amy

1) If you could trade places with any other person (be it living, dead, or fictional), who would it be?

Hmm, that's a hard question. I'd say that the lives of the Kokiri from Zelda: Ocarina of Time have always held a certain appeal.

2) *going with the general theme of #1* Why would you be this person?

If you haven't played Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the Kokiri are a race of elven people who live in a forest (Named, appropriately enough, the Kokiri Forest... or is it the Kokiri Woods? I don't know, I played through the game at age eleven). The Kokiri don't advance past the age of ten, and they're never allowed to leave the small forest they live in (Which has a population of maybe a dozen Kokiris). It's an eternal childhood, basically, with a neverchanging status quo. The things you love today will be there tomorrow, the next day, and always. When I was a kid, every day had so much meaning. The world was such a comforting place. If I was a Kokiri, that meaning would never dry up. That comfort would never disappear. I could expect those feelings to be around forever.

Now, that's not to say that I would trade lives with a Kokiri should I ever get the chance. I'm okay with the one I have. But whenever I think about what that sort of lifestyle must be like... it makes me wistful.

3) Do you believe that dreams are an alternate reality or just figments of an over-active imagination?

Hmm, the idea of dreams being an alternate reality is one I've never considered before. It's a nice idea - there are alternate versions of me that are very happy indeed based on some of the things I've dreamed about. :) I wouldn't degrade dreams by calling them something so simple as the results of an overactive imagination, since I know there's a lot of meaning to them, but could you tell me more about this idea that dreams are an alternate reality (Whether it's just a personal idea of yours or one that belongs to a group)? It's a very romantic, interesting concept.

4) Is sleep overrated?

There are times where I don't care much for sleep. There have been periods where I try to avoid resting because I'd rather be doing something more productive. Still, I don't think that I can ever consider sleep overrated. It's something I realized in high school, that I can manage to appreciate pretty much anyone when they're asleep. Whether you're a bratty kid or a shithead teenager, everyone's the same in sleep. Everyone is pure, everyone is innocent, everyone is free of the contamination that affects them during their waking hours. Since relating to people hasn't exactly been my strong point for a number of years, it's always a comforting thing to realize.

5) How likely is it than man will go to the moon again?

I think it's virtually a guarantee that man will go to the moon again. At the very least, I could see an attempt being made whenever space colonization becomes something important instead of just a vague pipe dream or 'what if.' Space colonization isn't something that's being given serious consideration at the moment (And I'm glad, personally - the idea of considering a home planet besides Earth weirds me out), but if such a time should ever come, I think a second trip to the moon would be very likely. We've already proven that it's possible, so it would be a safe, convenient target to use for test flights, and it would raise both morale and support of the space colonization concept. I don't think a second voyage to the moon will occur until such a time that space exploration finds itself in the spotlight, though. We mainly traveled to the moon in the first place as a means of flexxing our muscles against Russia in the Cold War. With that purpose served, I don't think we'll be returning to the moon until we have a practical reason for doing so; the former aspirations used during the previous trip of furthering humanity or breaching a new, unexplored realm could no longer apply for obvious reasons.

Happiness Meme # 3

I told my mom that I want Persona 4 for Christmas.

Of course, that's going to be null and void if she can't find it.

Happiness Meme # 2

I was just told that sometimes I come across more like an 11 year old than a 21 year old. I guess that's supposed to be a bad thing, but I was pretty awesome at 11, so.

I'm going to send Fa-chan her present today via Express Mail. She'd better like it.
